Abstract
Hypertensive retinopathy (HR) is cause by the changes of blood pressure which can lead severe damage to human eyes or even can cause permanent vision lose. The early change of hypertensive retinopathy is detected using fundus image. This paper highlights the various automated system which is used previously for the detection of hypertensive retinopathy. Subsequently, the early change of hypertensive retinopathy is detected in the retinal blood vessels width. In this project, a designed methodology is used to detect the degree of HR which consists of image pre-processing, image segmentation, region of interest detection, blood vessel width measurement and the analyses of the degree of HR. The degree of hypertensive retinopathy is detected using the AV ratio calculated based on the blood vessel width measurement. The results show the methodology work efficiently because all the fundus images used in this project was successfully graded on their degree of HR.
