Abstract
Nowadays, in most facilities, the electrical consumption has always comes to a big concern as it involved safety, supply and demand, and most importantly, the cost. For facilities that have poor power management, it will surely cost them more. The purpose of this project is to study the possible cause of energy wastage that occurred in UTP, or specifically in the hostel, by analyzing the trend of electricity consumption based on hours, and propose a suitable method to reduce the wastage. The strategy proposed are called ‘peak load shaving’ as the analysis will be focused on peak load that occurred on specific time, displayed in a load profile. The outcome of this research is hoped to at least provide 7% to 10% reduction in energy wastage at the UTP Hostel.
