Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as a network of many physical objects which are connected together. It is embedded with electronics circuits, transmitters, control valves and network connectivity. IoT allows these instruments to collect and transfer data back and forth among one other. As for the controlling process, it potentially enables the instruments to improve cost and efficiency of a control system. Unfortunately, IoT concept is still facing many of challenges such as no appropriate standard issues, and some issues regarding connectivity.
Current research on wireless adaptor connectivity by using the HART protocol has been conducted by the Process Control Group, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. However, the process is still barely completed without the connecting the WirelessHART adaptor to the process plant. Thus, this project focuses the process of attaching and extracting data from the process plant to the WirelessHART adaptor.
The expected end-result of this project is to design a WirelessHART adaptor that can be used to interface the industrial transmitter and Control Valve/ Actuator.
