Abstract

Coagulants in water treatment sense is a chemical that will remove color and
turbidity in a raw water in the form of flocs. The use of inorganic coagulants and
synthetic polymers in coagulation and flocculation process at water treatment plant
was found to be harmful to environment and health issue concern. Thus, Luis G Torres
came out with research studies of using plant-based biopolymer in water treatment
process as a green approach for a sustainable future. The aim of this project is to
characterize biopolymer from seed of Annona Diversifolia (AD). By using Fourier
Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer, the characterization of active functional
group of biopolymer is determined which is Amine and Carboxyl group. The zero
potential charge (
