Abstract

In this study, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are biosynthesized using oil palm kernel mediated with Emim acetate, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate, as ionic liquid solvent. Oil palms kernels are chosen due to it abundant in beneficial nutrients, anti-oxidant properties and consider being one of a major waste in oil palm industry after its oil extraction. Multiple process parameters such as varying pH value of synthesized solution, Chloroauric acid concentrations, and volume ratio of extract with Chloroauric acid were done to analyse the effect on the sized and morphology of AuNPs. The synthesis AuNPs were characterized and analyse by UV- visible Spectrophotometer (UV-VIS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Based on the UV-Vis analysis, the synthesized AuNPs were found to be at the wavelength range of 500 to 530 nm. TEM imaging analysis show the synthesized AuNPs, having spherical shape and mean diameter of 9 nm.
