Abstract
Platform reassessment is often carried out to assess the integrity of the structure in order to operate beyond its initial design life. One of commonly used method in reassessing the platforms is pushover analysis. Conventional pushover analysis is termed Load Factor (LF), it imposes load to the structure model by increasing the load factor. The increment is done up to the stage where by the model exceeds its displacement or collapse limit. Recently a study has established a novel method to perform pushover analysis, termed Incremental Wave Analysis (IWA). IWA consist of gradual increment of the wave height which increase lateral load acting on the platform, until it reaches a maximum displacement or collapse point. The research aim to identify the platform response in both methods in terms of Base Shear, Reserve Strength Ratio (RSR), and displacement. It also identifies the platform’s collapse mechanism in pushover through conventional approach (Load Factor method) and Incremental Wave Analysis. The report also includes estimation of significant wave height and its corresponding period based on empirical method.
