Abstract

Seri Iskandar is predominantly covered by Kati Formation, which is extending from
Kuala Kangsar. The Kati Formation is mainly comprises of thick sequence of
sandstone with interbedded beds of siltstone or mudstone and shale. For the past
years, there are not many researches about the formation and the geology of Seri
Iskandar, in order to determine the geology and detail information of the Kati
Information, a geological model has to be built. This project involves studying the
general geology of Seri Iskandar, Perak and the outcomes from this project are to
produce an updated geological map of the Kati Formation, discriminate the facies of
Kati Formation and at the same time provide the input information to construct a
geological model for Seri Iskandar area. A few investigations will be conducted in
this project which are the outcrop sedimentary logging analysis, collection of samples
from outcrops, grain size analysis on the samples collected, core description from the
core samples, thin section petrography analysis on the samples and well log analysis
from the bore hole drilled in University Technology PETRONAS.
