Abstract
The Chenderoh Semiconsolidated Conglomerate of Kuala Kangsar is a unit of subangular red stained dominated sandstone clast within a clay and sand matrix. The objective of the studies is to reconstruct the paleoenviroment and correlate it with other superficial deposit at Kuala Kangsar. Several sedimentary logs petrographic studies were carried out to identify the origin of the material. The facies recognized are;
1) Mediumly sorted cobbles framework conglomerate 2) Pebbly framework conglomerate 3) Poorly sorted cobbles and boulders conglomerate.
There is no clear contact between each facies but it rather as a facies cycle units clast size change from pebbly mud to cobbles to boulders framework conglomerate. The base is suspected from Upper Carboniferous to Permian age mudstone and shale from Kati Formation based on petrographic analysis. it is interpreted as a alluvial or colluvial complex system being transported by the Old Perak River during Pleistocene.
