Abstract
Setul Formation comprises of few layers which consists of limestone, sandstone, and
siltstone. It was formed during the Ordovician-Silurian in Langkawi. The limestones in
Setul Formation are the oldest exposed limestone in Malaysia which can be found
mostly in the eastern part of Langkawi. The environment of sedimentation is shallow
water that caused the limestone to be having mud fabrics. From the petrophysical
studies, the muddy fabrics of limestone had caused the porosity and permeability to be
lower thus lowering the potential of Setul Limestone to be a reservoir.
