Abstract
Malaysian coastal waters are suffering the ill effects of high levels of oil emissions due to heavy shipping across the Malacca Straits and the South China Sea. Clean-up procedures of oil spills are very important for mitigating the vital environmental impact of this oil pollution. The modern physical method of extracting spilled oil has a negative impact towards the environment. Bioremediation process has also played a significant role in limiting the effect from spilled oil. However, the ability of microbes to break down the pollutants varies according to the field size as well as the variability of the field area. This project aims to develop a model that is capable in simulating and analyzing the effect of bacteria on spilled oil in the Malaysian coastal water by using Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM).
