Abstract
Monitoring and observation applications have been deployed throughout the years
using wired and wireless technologies in healthcare industries. The procedure
implemented by health professionals in Malaysia on measuring vital signs is
conducted manually. Efforts have been made by many researchers to use Wireless
Sensor Network (WSN) as a solution in measuring vital signs of patients from remote
location in hospitals. Amongst the wireless technology chosen were Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) and Zigbee technologies where they fit the purpose of
healthcare application in terms of two ways communication, high patient's safety,
higher number of nodes and etc. However, the current RFID tag is seen to have
setbacks in terms of efficiency and accuracy of data transfer.
