Abstract

The regional transportation policy is a key constituent for smooth and planned
development in rural regions of the developing countries. It was found that rural
sub-regions were struggling with the problem of inaccessibility, which is the main
cause of their backwardness. Hence, the goal of this research is to deliver regional
transportation policy proposals, which can support rural development authorities
to ease the inaccessibility problem. The aims of this study are to design and
develop a computer-based database system; to mitigate the accessibility issues of
rural inhabitants with the development of a time-space prism and to develop
regional travel demand models. The study area was selected as a "Lower Sindh
Sub-Region, Pakistan." The data were taken from the secondary source
"Hyderabad Master Plan 2001-2015" for the development of a computer-based
database svstem. For the rest of the obiectives. the data were collected throu<!h "' J ' ----- -------Q--
field visits, personal observations and questionnaire survey.
