Abstract

Software risk assessment is the process of identifying, analysing, and prioritizing risks.
Assessing software risks is important for software development industries in order to
increase the rate of successful project completion. However, the successful implementation
of risk assessment in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) is a nonentity due
to the lack of suitable risk assessment processes. Moreover, the existing software risk
assessment approaches do not adequately implement the required risk assessment processes.
To address these issues requires the identification of the top risk factors that
these companies face during their software development process followed hy identification
and analysis of the assessment issues and the influencing factors that existing
practices and their tools have. The main influencing factors include the use of mixed
risk identification techniques, grouping risks into their related dimensions. involvement
of all project user~ using different risk rules and different risk analysis processes, and
ranking risk indices.
