Abstract
The dynamism of healthy vegetation could be affected by oil leakage such as
phenomena of hydrocarbon microseepage. This effect alters aplant's physical growth
and reflectance spectra for detecting potential oil reservoir in the field. Hyperspectral
remote sensing technology tools are effective in monitoring vegetation health in
potential onshore reservoir areas. This research aims to investigate spectral of
hydrocarbon microseepage vegetation stress in respond from the medium of plant
using hyperspectral data. In this research, 40 oil palm trees were stimulated with
hydrocarbon microseepage and the remaining 10 trees were left as controls for three
months. The data was collected in the form of reflectance spectra using the ASD
FieldSpec 4 Standard-Res spectroscopy with a range of 350-2500 run and weekly
growth observation of the trees. At least 90 spectral reading from each tree was being
taken. The spectra acquisition was taken on the first day, day 60th and day 90th ofthe
plantation.
