Abstract

The solar chimney power plant is proven to be a promising technology for solar
power generation. However, the tall chimney has drawbacks in terms of construction
and investment cost. The solar vortex engine (SVE) is proposed to eliminate and
replace the chimney unit with artificial vortex. The proposed SVE consists of solar air
collector (SAC) and vortex generation engine (VGE). This research aims to
investigate the proposed SVE and generate a benchmark mathematical model. The
design parameters considered in the VGE design affecting the swirly air generator are
the deflection angle of curved air guide vanes b, the number of curved air guide vanes
N, and the convergence region diameter D, which have been examined in the
mathematical model.
