Abstract

In the present work, a fundamental study was carried out to systematically
investigate the potential application of amino acid salts (sodium and potassium salts of
L-phenylalanine) for bulk removal ofCO2from various industrial processes to replace
the existing conventional amines i.e. MEA, DEA. For this purpose, initially
physicochemical properties such as density, viscosity, refractive index and surface
tension of aqueous Na-Phe and K-Phe were measured over a temperature range of
(298.15-343.15) K and at concentrations (w = 0.10, 0.20, and 0.25) mass fraction. All
physicochemical properties of aqueous Na-Phe and K-Phe increased by increasing the
solvent concentration in the solution.
