Abstract
Smart Artificial Baiting System is an extension device for pest management
system that flow the fruit juice to lure the pest. The current development of Internet of
Things (IoT) for pest control in paddy field does not provide a baiting system to attract
the pest. Therefore, this project is aims to study the existing works related to baiting
system. The artificial baiting system focused on one of the invasive pests in rice field
namely Pomacea Canaliculata, commonly known as Golden Apple Snail (GAS). By
understanding the effect of fruits’ scent to GAS, smart artificial baiting system lured
the snails by flowing the fruit scent to a specific area. The output for this project is a
proof-of-concept prototype that can flow the fruit juice to attract the GAS. The system
was inspected to analyse the performance and efficiency of monitoring the sensor’s
reading to have a complete system. The experimental setup using a physical fruit as
the bait proved that the fruit is capable to attract the GAS. The future work for this
project is to validate the effectiveness of this prototype via experiment.
