Abstract

In adapting the era of digitalization and Industrial Revolution 4.0, the usage
and benefit of ICT have been recognized by the whole world’s population compared
to in the 90s, which was when I was born. The purpose of this paper is to show the
improvement made from manual system of data collecting, storing and monitoring of
asset and inventory with the updated and current existing asset and inventory
management system in other enterprises and researches. The case study is taken from
my previous internship company called TNB Energy Services Sdn. Bhd. or known as
TNBES. TNBES is Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)’s subsidiary which focusing on
the renewable energy such as solar energy and mini-hydro power system. Lack of
monitoring of assets and inventory resulted in missing of existing, in and out of data
storage. The main objective of this research is to investigate the system done by
TNBES and the system from the existing literature and developed in the market and
also to evaluate the new system developed for TNBES in terms of usability which have
been done partially from the previous internship period. The project and prototype are
both continuation from my internship project with IT department staff. Assets and
Inventory Management System (AIMS) is a web-based system which allows the users
or staffs to monitor through their desktop or computer for a bigger view instead of
using smart phone view which are smaller and quite inconvenient to the eyes. The
benefits of the system is that they can view, register, monitor and request inventories
and assets to be used with the acknowledgement of person in charge and with less
paper usage.
