Abstract
Biomass based activated carbon adsorbents are gaining increasing attention for the
separation of different gases such as CO2 from natural gases. Such renewable
resources-based activated carbon adsorbent is produced by carbonization followed by
activation techniques. Though, existing method of activated carbon production can
cause collapse in the carbon structure and will reduce the yield at high temperature
operating conditions. In order to maximize the quality and cost effectiveness of
activated carbon production process, combining both carbonization and activation
steps in a single unit can reduce the cost production. However, previous research
report indicates production of activated carbon using the method of combining
carbonization and activation into single-step was limited to laboratory scale.
