Abstract

The propose project entitled “Embedded System for Train Track Quality Assessment” is
a continuity project from earlier semesters, which are “Train Track Misalignment
Detection System” and “Fast Train Track Quality Measurement Using Gyro Sensors”. The
project will be conducted within FYP 1 and FYP 2 time frame under supervision of Assoc.
Prof. Dr Fawnizu Azmadi Hussin and Mr Abu Bakar Sayuti Saman. The project aims to
enhance the vibration detection technique produced on the previous projects by replacing
the previous vibration sensor with MEMS accelerometer sensor as well as adding a GPS
module to the system. The fabricated system will be able to detect and locate the
abnormalities in the vibration due to the misalignment of the train track along the way
from Kampar KTM station to KL Sentral. A real-time data visualization will be installed
into the system so that the irregularities of vibration can be noticed while conducting the
project. The attained data will be stored in a SD card before it is loaded to personal laptop
for further data analyzation. Few possible railway track misalignment locations have been
tagged from Kampar KTM Station to KL Sentral based on the vibration detected by the
embedded system produced.
