Abstract
The quartzite from Gunung Jerai Area Kedah is a metamorphic rock and amongst the oldest rock in Malaysia. The Cambrian Age suggests that it was 540-485 million years ago as a sedimentary rock but had undergone the process of metamorphism to form quartzite. The metamorphism process transformed the quartzite into a hard and granular texture from pre-existing sedimentary rocks like sandstone.
