Abstract

Clinical practice today still measured stress using conventional way which is through psychological methods, by conducting interviews or filling questionnaires. Some developed studies exist in the form of questionnaires for stress estimation. All these methods are subjective way of evaluation. This project proposed a method to evaluate mental stress using EEG signal. Correlation between stress and non-stress signal were observed to learn how brain response to stress. Cohen’s Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) will be utilizing as a psychological assessment. The process of physiological analysis and classification consists of signal processing, feature extraction and classification process. Hjort parameters are used in feature extraction process.Mental arithmetic task was chosen as a stress stimulus in this study since Event Related Potential (ERP) has very crucial role in physiological studies to evolve stress.
