Abstract

This report constitutes of, as the title for this project suggest, separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) from flue gas by using wetted activated carbon. The first goal of this project are mainly; to separate CO2 from flue gas by using wetted activated carbon, secondly; to compare the rate of adsorption between dry activated carbon and wetted activated carbon ,to study on pressure and temperature variation that will influence the separation efficiency and to investigate the effect of regeneration time and temperature in regeneration process . The methods of separation in the industry are namely; chemical absorption, membrane, cryogenic separation, and adsorption. This project is motivated by the need for inexpensive CO2 separation technology from flue gas. Thus, separation by physical adsorption is adopted after several aspect has been considered. The equipment used is Gas Adsorption Column Unit (GACU) which is connected to gas chromatograph. The result obtained is presented in terms of CO2 composition out from the column.
