Abstract

An anticancer drug has many new discoveries and breakthrough with the increasing understanding of our biological system and advancement in pharmacology. A big percentage of the newly discovered anticancer drugs face a problem of poor or little solubility. Furthermore, many potential anticancer drugs show cytotoxic behaviour toward normal cells besides killing deadly cancer cells. However natural anticancer compounds have been used to limit the systemic cytotoxicity and effectively deletion of deleterious cancer cells. Hyaluronic acid naturally found inside our body, highly viscous and versatile polymer open avenues toward drug or anticancer agent delivery. Due to Biocompatible and hydrophilic nature of Hyaluronic acid the problem of hydrophobic anticancer agent and drugs completely vanished. Hyaluronic acid is of the main ligand of CD44 cancer cells receptor. The ligand binding property makes hyaluronic acid as drug carrier for targeted delivery also. This project will explore curcumin, a yellow colour compound which has gained recognition as a drug effective towards killing cancer cells, yet not toxic to the human body. Modeling of Hyaluronan-Curcumin Conjugate as Targeted Cancer Drug Delivery with Enhanced Water Solubility was carried out. The main objective was to investigate how the HA-curcumin conjugate act as targeted drug delivery & with enhances water solubility. The software, Discovery Studio 2.5 generates a three-dimensional simulation of the conjugated drug. As a result the conjugation of curcumin with hyaluronic acid enhances its water solubility and stability, thus increasing bio-availability.
