Abstract

Providing adequate natural ventilation would reduce the building cooling load in tropical areas.
This regarded as a design moving towards green or sustainable building concept. Driving forces
for natural ventilation in those hot and humid countries are basically wind induced actions. This
effect depends on the surrounding environment in a dense urban area, where buildings are
closely built together. This project is to adapt the green building design concept in Malaysia.
Further investigation is to be done especially on air flow movement. The Green Building features
were adapted by modifYing the window dimension and proposed the air chimney at the room's
ceiling. Some simulations using CFD software (Gambit and Fluent) was done in order to analyze
data and to come out with a proper system .The results show that the wind velocity inside the
master and single bedroom has increased when the window dimension is increased and the
proposed air chimney is provided. Results are useful to provide better ventilation system.
