Abstract
Engine waste heat can be used to run the adsorption cooling system of an air conditioning in vehicle. It improves fuel economy but also reduces the carbon footprint. The size of the adsorption bed is an important criterion for air-conditioning applications in vehicles. In this article, there are two stage of indirect heat recovery from the engine by employing an effective lumped parameter model to simulate the dynamic behaviors of an adsorption chiller that ranges from the transient to the cyclic steady states. Coefficient of Performance (COP) and Specific Cooling Power (SCP) performance factor is calculated in terms of for different operating parameters such as cycle time, exhaust gas temperatures, cooling water temperatures and flow rates.
