Abstract

Lean process or lean manufacturing is an operation method which emphasize on elevating production efficiency by eliminating waste. In this case, the wastes, also known as muda, are in the form of various factors that decrease the productivity of the whole system.
The key objective of this project is to identify lean issues in a local hospital. Other than that, the second objective of this project is to understand the preferences of patients by using Kano Method. For this project, the main target is the medical ward of the hospital, in which any non-value added processes can be identified based on lean manufacturing’s seven concepts of wastes. Those wastes can then be eliminated by modifying the process or totally remove the process itself. From the technical point of view, this project is to reduce patient waiting time, diagnostic errors as well as redundancy in information input. From the general point of view, is to improve the staying experience of the patients who is having much discomfort from the illness.
