Abstract

This paper presents a method for the computation for a 110 c.c. motorcycle during cornering based mainly on the Bicycle Model and several other concepts. The three main factors which are the vehicle, the driver and the infrastructure are considered. The model formulated is capable of producing outputs i.e. yaw velocity, sideslip angle, lateral acceleration and roll angle of the motorcycle while performing a specific corner. The simulation results are examined and displayed in graphical forms. Intending to validate the simulated model, a data acquisition tool was utilized. The experimental results were then used to contrast the simulated model. Followed from the validation, advanced analysis of obtained results was conducted to determine accuracy and the functionality of the developed model.
To further enhance this study, several other factors such as road roughness, riding style and vehicle vibrations could be implied into the Bicycle Model to increase the accuracy and relevance of such researches
